Move-In Ready Home Updates

Is your family expanding? Perhaps you’d like to move closer to your job? Whatever the reason, you’re ready to make a different house a home and Tri-State is here to help you in the process.

According to a report from Zillow, homes that are listed in April or May are more likely to be sold faster and for more money. With spring just around the corner, now is the time to give your house some much-needed updates to make sure you get top dollar for your investment.

Curb Appeal.

Did you know installing a new front door can help increase the curb appeal and value of your home by 4.2 percent?! Start by replacing your old front door with a Therma-Tru door from Tri-State – named a “Best Buy” by Consumers Digest.

Once the weather warms up, stop by your local home improvement store and make some updates to your landscaping. First impressions are key, so really wow potential buyers right off the bat!

Windows.

Do your windows need replacing? Right now, homebuyers are looking for energy efficient homes and one way to accomplish this is by installing energy efficient windows. Newly replaced windows that help reduce energy bills are a huge selling point for potential buyers. At Tri-State Home Improvement, you get a double warranty on windows which means it transfers to the next owner!

Roof.

Before selling your house, your home will go through an inspection and they will undoubtedly look at your roof to make sure it’s in good overall condition. The inspector will want to know when it was last replaced and will take a serious look at the structure to make sure it’s sturdy and doesn’t have any leaks. While this is a more costly home update, it may very well be necessary to attract buyers. Depending on the material, most roofs need to be replaced anywhere between 20 to 50 years. A Satisfied Customer Returns for Even Bigger Project

Dreary, dull and falling apart, the old siding of one Davenport family’s house failed to provide the “wow factor” the homeowner wanted.

With cooler weather approaching, the family also knew new siding would mean increased energy efficiency. So they dialed up their old friend Hank at Tri-State Windows, Siding & Roofing – who had done such a wonderful job on their windows a few years back.

When the Tri-State crew arrived, they helped the family decide on a siding color that would not only increase curb appeal – but also better represent their vibrant personalities.

The verdict was Royal Building Product’s Country Green, with Rustic Red Corners. New gutters, downspouts and soffits in classic white were also installed to improve functionality.

When the remodel was finished, the family was happier than ever! Fast and professional, the crew transformed their home to one that would make any neighbor Country Green with envy! Don’t take our word for it. Check out the before and after above!

5 Tips for Making Your Home More Energy Efficient

house

When I decided to update my tree house last spring, one of the major things I wanted was to make it more energy efficient. The changes make me really happy not only because it saves me money
on cooling and heating costs, but also because I know I am doing my part to keep my Earth green and healthy!
Check out five changes I made to make my home more energy efficient, and
you can too!

1. Replace Windows
Replacing old windows with Energy Star certified ones like we sell at Tri-State Windows, Siding & Roofing is a great way of making your home more energy efficient – 15 percent more efficient to be exact.

2. Replace Siding
Gaps, cracks, and chips in your home’s aging siding are inevitable. However, ignoring this damage makes it easy for air and moisture to invade your home and reduce the efficiency of your heating and cooling units. To maintain the quality of your home and reduce energy bills, update your siding as well as fresh backer and insulation.

3. Replace Roof
Tri-State Window, Siding & Roofing’s “Cool Series” shingles are Energy Star certified. Available in a variety of colors, these shingles help reduce energy costs by reflecting solar radiation from entering from the top of your home. Click here to view this series.

4. Check Insulation
Home insulation helps maintain a uniform temperature throughout the house, making walls and ceilings warmer in winter months or colder in summer time. When upgrading your home’s insulation, make your purchase based on the R value, not thickness or weight. The R value is the insulation’s ability to resist heat flow. The higher the R value, the more energy effective it is.

5. Install Programmable Thermostat
Easy to install and fairly inexpensive, programmable thermostats are helpful in regulating temperatures during the day, saving money and increasing comfort.

Several of Tri-State Window Siding & Roofing’s window and roof shingles options also fall under Energy Star’s Tax Credit system, saving you even more money! Take a peek at last week’s blog post to find out more!

Always a pleasure, folks!
